NEW IN 2013: BECOME PART OF THE HERD AT OLD MCDONALD'S FARM "DISCOVERY CENTER"!

Old McDonald’s Farm is pleased to announce FREE admission for students in the third through twelfth grades to attend a new presentation focused on dairy cow care and comfort. This program is generously funded through a grant by the New York Corn and Soybean Growers Association.

• Free admission is extended to the first 500 students on a first come, first served basis.

• Visiting school groups will become part of the herd upon entering the Discover Farming Center at Old McDonald’s Farm. 

• Students will be issued an ear tag establishing them as either a milking cow, a heifer, or a dry cow.

• Experience how our cows live through hands-on exhibits of all the ways we strive to make our cows comfortable and productive. Our new herd will learn about the diets they will eat, foot care, ways to control heat stress, and how to relieve those itchy spots. Test out various mats for resting and see how much research goes into the science of dairy cow management.

This is a wonderful opportunity to get a behind the scenes look at a modern, large dairy operation. We have geared this presentation to older students due to its length and in-depth content. A trolley tour of the dairy and visiting with the farm animals is also included!
